Silly Stormbringer. A "Quaid" can only be called when Dennis Quaid is seen, or one sees a box with his name on it. Just mentioning something he's in is not enough for a "Quaid. Nice try, though.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Unless *Quaid* has grossly changed in the years since I played on the old schoolgrounds, I'm siding with Stormy.
First off, Dennis is not the only applicable Quaid. Clearly, the game started around Randy, and I would even go so far as to allow the character Douglas Quaid from Total Recall.
Secondly, you linked to IMDB which lists Randy Quaid as an uncredited cast member of MLII, starring Charlie Sheen. You opened the door to the justified, albeit reaching, Quaid.
Ah yes, sorry, it's been many years. I meant to say "Randy" not "Dennis", but you're right, I didn't mean to imply only one Quaid was applicable.
And I forgot I linked to IMDB, which would open me up for a Quaid.
You did have to either see a picture of a Quaid or see his name, though, to initiate a punch, right? I don't remember if the rules ever explicitly laid it out, but common playing practice seemed to dictate at least that much (not that it would apply in this case as you already pointed out my IMDB link but still, I'd like to know for future reference).
Picture of a Quaid, published reference to a Quaid, or an actual Quaid within eyesight are the acceptable catalysts when playing Quaid. Without these, no punch shall be performed. After all, Quaid is a sport of gentlemen--it's not like we're playing Danza where the rules are as loose as Katherine Helmond, TV's Mona.
