Some would argue that Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas' groundbreaking track, "My Humps", off of the album Monkey Business, may be the finest lyric poetry of our time. I am hard-pressed to disagree. I simply cannot think of another song whose writing could possibly surpass the eloquence and utter brilliance of "Whatcha gonna do with all that breast? All that breast inside your shirt?"

Alanis Morissette released a somber cover of the insipid and disappointingly catchy track this week:

For completists, the original can also be found there.

I must say I like Alanis more every day.

I haven't felt this way since Tori covered "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

Or "'97 Bonnie and Clyde."

Or "You Shook Me All Night Long."

For some reason I feel like I need to take a shower.

Alanis kicks ass! She's so smart and sarcastic.

That song really speaks to me. I dated a guy who had that song as the ringtone for me when I called him. Needless to say, it didn't work out between us but I still have a soft spot in my heart for the song. I like the Alanis version much better...you can do that on television!
