Here's wishing all the (American) witfits out there a happy and safe 4th of July. I myself am finishing up a four day weekend, having today off for the holiday, and taking yesterday off cause, hey, why not? I originally hadn't planned on it, until my boss made the assumption that I wasn't coming in.

Kato's Boss: You're taking Monday off, right?
Kato: (hesistently, fearing a trap) Yeeesss.
Kato's Boss: Have a good holiday, I'll see you Wednesday.

That's the type of managerial direction I like to see.

I'll be honest, I spent most of the long weekend at the apartment, venturing out only for errands and to do (ugh) grocery shopping. One of the best parts about taking the time off was getting up late and sitting around in my boxers eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich while instant messaging people and watching TiVo. "The Simple Pleasures", a friend called it. Indeed. I don't need no fancy plans to keep me happy.

Digging into the archives, you may wanna check out my post about some very cool sparkler photos up on flickr.

Also, STS-121 Discovery launched today in the first ever Independence Day liftoff (the mission had been delayed due to weather). Good luck to the astronauts and the crew at mission control. Bring em home safe, boys!

In the past 3 weeks, I've only been in to work for 8 days total, so I wasn't about to use another vacation day (my days started over on the first) on the 4th, I'd rather use the holiday allowance somewhere else.

But since no one was going to be in the office, I "worked from home."

Yup, I sent emails, worked on my resume, and played online games, just like I do at work.
