There must be something
wrong with me. I mean, other than the obvious.
Lately I seem to be suffering from bouts of repetunitis, what the Germans call
Ohrwurm ("earworm"). For you laymen, that's the term introduced by James Kellaris, an associate professor of marketing at the University of Cincinnati, for the phenomenon of getting a song stuck in your head.
Currently I am suffering through the power chords and trademark eighties synth of Starship's "We Built This City" which I must have heard at the grocery store this past weekend. Yes, the tune that
Blender magazine rated the number one worst song evar is bouncing around my skull like a .22 caliber corporate rock bullet, threatening to Swiss cheese my brain worse than
Sam Beckett's. Yea, I know, heavy-handed metaphor. I can't think straight with all the racket up there, and Gladys is getting testy.
I also seem to have
Raffi's "
Bananaphone" dancing around up there, but I'm letting it slide because, hey, that's how I roll.
And yes, you've deduced correctly that today is a slow day for blogging
.
