Remember when I used to blog here?

I wonder what Tolkien would have made of the Interweb? Especially if he came across "They're taking the hobbits to Isengard" as I did. Erwin Beekveld, you are a strange man, but your deliciously goofy remix of the LoTR theme makes me giggle with glee.

I didn't see anything. I mean, I got a page and all, but nothing happened. It was just a page to tell your friends about the whatever it was.

Awesome!!

Hey, am I the only one who hates the part in "Return of the King" where, near the end, Frodo wakes up in a bed bathed in surreal idyllic sunshine, and then sees Gandalf, and smiles, and mouths "Gaaaandaaaalf!" in slow motion while sappy music plays, and then the other hobbits run in, and they mouth (again in slow-mo) "FROOOODOOOO" and then start jumping up and down in bed with him like some 7th grade girls at a sleepover, and then Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas come in, and Frodo mouths THEIR names in slo-mo, and they all smile and laugh (in slow motion, of course) ?

That was great.

Ok, that was truly wonderful. I'll have that little tune going through my head all day!

And jege (jen)...you're not alone.

jege: Didn't bother me, but I'm probably alone in that sentiment. I've always viewed it as one of those movie concessions: in order to make the audience feel the emotions the characters are having, they exaggerate. Besides, if I had trekked for several months across a continent, as far from home as I could ever imagine, facing things no one was ever meant to face, and thinking I had lost all of my friends along the way, I think I'd be pretty damn happy to be alive and reunited.

It's pretty consistent with Jackson's telling of the story, they over-dramatized a lot (the whole Arwen storyline, Aragorn's "death", Frodo telling Sam to stay behind, etc.) Tolkien was a little more subtle. But then he was telling it over the course of many pages, not nine hours of film.

Once again, I must prostrate myself before the Master of The Discovery of Internet Creamy Goodness.

That tune will be in my head for f**kin' weeks.

This kinda stuff finds me. All morning I was saying to myself: "Tell-me-where-is-Gandalf? For-I-much-desired-to-speak-with-him".

oh, please someone put that on a CD for me for Christmas!

I am so sappy - I loved that scene when Frodo woke up cuz I always pictured Hobbits like 7th graders all light and funny and still innocent.

slo-mo always lame tho.

I'd just like to say:
