Call me crazy but one of the finer small pleasures in life is a good pen. Although I'm a decent to excellent typist and can write much faster on a computer than I can longhand, there is something about the tactile experience of writing with a pen that I find appealing. Is it because I need to justify all the time spent on penmanship in school? Does it remind me of a simpler time when technology was not yet king? Probably not. Honestly, I think I just like the feel of it and the freedom to doodle when my mind wanders. There's just no parallel for that in the digital world.

I have recently acquired a new favorite writing instrument: the uni-ball signo gel grip (0.7). The point size is perfect and it flows as smooth as can be without running. I'm particularly fond of the blue, but the black is crisp and appealing as well. The only problem I have with them is that they seem to get up and walk away, especially at work. No doubt mischievous gnomes are to blame. First my underpants, now this.

Yea, I know, a post about pens. I'm still sleepy from all the turkey last week, give me a few more days to think of something interesting to write about.

Ah, yes, a good pen can make the difference. While I have a number of uni-ball signo (0.7) in my arsenal, and I agree, the blue is great, I've found a new fave. Check out the Bic VelocityGel (0.7). Retractable, comfortable grip, great ink and a terrific movement. I'm still waiting for the paperless office, but in the meantime I can't go to write without my VelocityGel.

A good pen is better than even pumpkin pie... and sometimes sex.

I say black is the ink of choice in my world but you do what you like.

So gratifying it is to hear that I am not the only one who loves a smooth flow with a decent grip!

I personally have an addiction to your basic fine-point blue Bic. Never go fine-point on red though--it lays down pink.

I like today's word verification so much I might have to work it into everyday conversation: doyjmc.

Have you ever tried the Pilot G2 gel pens, that's what I currently use (.7 of course). If you have, how would you rank the two?

Prop: Sounds cool, I'll have to check it out.

W & W: The flow's gotta be smooth, or else it ain't worth using.

Scarlet: Now now, I'm the only one allowed to have a dirty mind here. Or should I say doyjmc mind.

Rory: I have not, but on my next visit to Office Max I might have to pick up a bunch of pens and do a write off. I don't recommend Bic's Z4 series, they are a little sub-par (ink doesn't always flow, and is a little runny).
I keep all my good pens at home, away from the thieving hands of co-workers. I must try some of these mentioned.

Good call Miss Scarlet - the blue Bic is classic and cheap enough to loan out.

For me it has to be a very fine-tipped sharpie. Preferably black. Either that, or a good fountain pen. Talk about your smooth flow......DOYJMC!!!!

AH! I have that pen and woe to anyone who tries to separate me from it! Black is my color of choice (once you go black...oh, never mind); never have liked the blue ink.

My wife is a pen fanatic. I'll have to pass this post along to her. :)

Vicarious: Good thinking. But what do you write with at work? Human blood?

Jen: Oh ho ho, how very elite of you. :) EQXDQUV right back at ya.

Misfit: Never get between a woman and her pen.

Chadness: Pen lovers unite!
